Sterling silver is wonderfully low maintenance once you know its secrets, and the biggest secret is this: the best thing you can do for your silver is simply wear it.

Wear It Often

Silver loves being worn. The natural oils in your skin keep tarnish away, which means your everyday pieces will often stay brighter than the ones sitting in a drawer. Consider that permission to never take it off.

Your Polishing Cloth Is Your Best Friend

Every order includes a polishing cloth, and a quick, gentle rub is all it takes to restore that fresh from the bench shine. Reach for it whenever your piece starts looking a little sleepy.

Cleaning at Home

For a deeper clean, soak your piece in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap for a few minutes, brush gently with a very soft toothbrush, rinse, and pat completely dry. For pieces with pearls or soft gemstones, skip the soak: wipe gently with a damp cloth instead, and keep pearls away from all soaps and cleaners.

Store With Care

When you are not wearing your jewelry, store it in a dry place, ideally in a soft pouch or lined box, with each piece separated to prevent scratches. If you live somewhere humid, an anti tarnish strip tucked into the pouch works wonders.

Avoid Chemicals

Perfume, lotion, hairspray, and chlorine are silver's least favorite things. Put your jewelry on last when getting ready, and take it off before swimming, cleaning with harsh products, or soaking in a hot tub.

Take It Off for Heavy Work

Silver is a soft, precious metal, and hand finished pieces deserve a rest during workouts, gardening, dishes, and anything else that puts your hands through it. This is exactly the moment a ring holder necklace was made for.

A Note on Patina

Over time, silver naturally deepens in the recessed details of a piece. On hand carved jewelry this is not a flaw. It adds depth and character, and many people love how it makes engravings stand out. If you prefer bright silver everywhere, your polishing cloth will take it right back.
